I heard a voice among the trees sing softly in the night
It came afloating on the breeze and danced between the Dark and Light
A song of ages gone before and yet still reaching infant stars
From water’s edge on river’s shore, it sings of life’s and loving’s chars.
Following this elven song, I made my way into that world
And listening to the river flow, its melody formed where teardrops swirled
The voice, that voice so faint so fair would gently lead the way
And just when silence filled the air the voice would softly say:
“To be happy, my friend, you must first give joy
To be loved, your very own heart deploy
To be trusted, believe first the one inside
And to be a friend you must never hide
To be hurt, you ought not agree to the wrong
To be of help, my friend, help someone you love, remember their song…“
So oft’ on this my endless path through Darkness without Light
A voice appears out of the blue and for a moment grants pure sight
Her features free of hate or fear, her black eyes glimm’ring grace
In softest silence she appears – her gentle footsteps leave no trace
And always from her mouth a song – a sweet reminiscent greeting:
“A star shall shine on the hour, my friend, the hour of our meeting”
You, always there – in deepest silence, unobtrusively entered my world so long long ago, that it seems as an eternity…
You, mysteriously intuitively, reaching out when I feel deserted – time after never-ending time.
You, strangely wise, not only know me, but sense me and discreetly and unfailingly spin the thread of love and weave the cloth of friendship to shelter a heart that few can fathom.
There is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved they may be,
but an expansion, an interpretation, a shadow perhaps of one’s self…
the very meaning of one’s soul personified.
That’s You, Elf…. for Me… from Me.
So sorry, dearest Elf! 😳
They say it ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings…
I say it ain’t over ’til the last wish is in
You may think my wishes are slightly late
But you’ll have to change your tune
They’re not 8 or so days too late
But about 357 days too soon 😉
And though my birthday wishes are (as usual) somewhat late
You know you’re ALWAYS wished much love – No matter what the date!!
